My Heart Hurts

It has taken me days to fully absorb (and I still can't get my head around) the devastation that took place in Conneticut. How do you go on when you send your little 6 or 7 year old to school on a regular day and end up identifying a body later that same day? I can't even begin to imagine the pain and agony that these families are going through. I pray every day for the families that they can somehow find the strength to go on. I pray everyday that our legislators find a way to make sure this never happens again. And most of all I pray that anyone that is considering doing this please take your own life but not that of anymore innocent people.

I...AM....SO...HAPPY!!!! DISH must've read my blog (or the 100 emaiils I sent) and brought back AMC to me (and only a week after "The Walking Dead" premiered). I missed only 1 episode and they replayed it on Sunday before the next new episode aired so I'm all caught up.  And boy is it good.  The creators listened to everyone who complained that there weren't enough zombies and zombie killin' last season.  They more than made up for it in just the first two episodes of this season.  LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!  I (heart) DISH. =^)

AMC

Please, oh please come back to me AMC.  I am in need of The Walking Dead when it starts again in a week or so.  And STOP those damn taunting commercials that say that everyone is going to see The Walking Dead EXCEPT for DISH subscribers. Look, I am locked into a 2 year contract and while I love TWD, I am NOT paying to get out of my contract so I can switch to a provided that offers AMC. So just settle whatever beef you have with DISH and GIVE.....ME.....MY.....WALKING......DEAD or I may have to go all apocolypic zombie on your ass.

Our Little Girl is a Middle Schooler Now

What an emotional time.  Friday, was J's 5th Grade Culmination Ceremony.  It was so adorable.  They sang, they danced, J got a perfect attendance award and it was just wonderful.  I cried a little.  I mean this is my baby finishing elementary school. =D To celebrate we went with her best friend and her family to Bubba Gump's at the Santa Monica Pier. We had a big surprise for the girls.  We bought them Justin Bieber concert tix for his concert that is coming up in October.  They were so excited and J had tears.  Below is an adorable pic of our big girl.

2012 Stanley Cup Champions - THE LOS ANGELES KINGS

OMG!!!!  How exciting is this?  45 years coming....the last time the Kings were in the Stanley Cup Finals was 1993 (the year D & I got married) and they got swept in 4.  What a Cinderella story. They were 8th seed going into the play-offs and they won the whole damn thing.  Congrats to everyone!!!

A Cheerleader in the Making?

Well, not exactly but she does want to wear it for Halloween. =D. How crazy is it that I was a SENIOR in hs when I wore this & it fits her. Granted, it was MUCH shorter on me & I filled the sweater out a little better but still. :)

Our "New Addition"

YAY!!! We FINALLY got a new car. A B-E-A-utiful Silver 2010 Honda Accord. I LOVE it!!! Below is J posing her little hammy self with it. So needless to say we had a FABOO Memorial Day weekend. I'll be on Cloud 9 for quite a while. =D

We also went to my cousin's house on Sunday for a bbq & had a ball. Love her so much.

Double WHOOT WHOOT!!!

I can't believe I forgot to mention in my last post that   I MET MY WEIGHT LOSS GOAL!!!  It took 10 weeks but I lost 22 lbs.  HALLELUJAH!!!  Now I move on to maintenance.  HIPPEE!!!

And the reason for the "double whoot whoot" is that   S. passed his driver's education test last night so now he can go get his permit.  It was really cute.  I didn't even know he was taking the test but J was in his room with him and they both came out with a big smile to make the announcement.  So we are that much closer to having another driver in da house.  Mixed feelings about that.  I know that he will be a good driver but recently I have witnessed some REALLY STUPID things on the road so I am more worried about the idiots that will be on the road with him.....  Oh well, my baby boy is growing up.

"I'm On That HD Flat..."

...well, I should say PLASMA!!!!  Yes, we finally did it.  We got our 60 inch Plasma TV this weekend.  OMG, can I just tell you how much I love this TV.  It is sooooo AWESOME!!!!  D. connected the Wii to it yesterday and that is just too much fun.  So we can check that off our "saving for decades" wish list. =)  Next is a new car for me (which we are pretty close too also but I will keep that on the DL until it's a little more for sure).  So that's our excitment for this weekend and hopefully soon I will post about a "new addition" to the family. =)

Happy Mother's Day...

...to all my Mom peeps out there...HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!  We rock, don't we?  We carry them for 9 months, push something the size of a watermelon out of an opening the size of a lemon, drive carpool, kiss boo-boo's, cheer our asses off at sporting events and love them even when they piss us off.  So Mom's enjoy your day and kids BE GOOD TO YOUR MOM's!!!!  Ok all mushiness aside you HAVE to go to this blog.  I have it as one of my "Cool Blogs" but thought I would highlight it here as well because they have a special Mother's Day dedication going right now.  It's so funny.  Enjoy!!!

A Reunion...of Sorts

When I was a Senior in hs, I was a cheerleader for a local all boys hs. I instantly connected with a girl who went to a different all girls school than I. She was a Sophomore, but that summer that we made the team we were inseparable. We drifted apart a few yrs after hs & in 2006 we found each other again on Classmates.com. We don't see each other often but I got invited to a "pre-25th reunion" party for her class this past Saturday night. It was really fun. Because I didn't go to her school, it was HILARIOUS seeing people try to figure out who the hell I was. =D She & I went to dinner after & just had a great time reconnecting. Our kids are the same age so we can relate on many different levels. People drift in & out of our lives & I'm so happy she has drifted back in.

What A Shock (The Voice)

I was really shocked to see that Cee-lo picked Juliet over Jamar. And I think Jamar was too. You could tell he was hurt when he hugged him (it wasn't the usual bear hug he usually gives). I had just started to think Cee-lo was the real deal but that just shocked me.

A Bike Ride & "Chimpanzees"

Well, not together. LOL I had another great weekend (yeah, it's Wednesday, I know, but I've been busy). D & I went for a great bike ride on Sunday morning from Playa Del Rey to El Porto (about 5 miles round trip). Not too far, I know, but we haven't gone for a ride since probably last August so I've gotta work back up to it. Then we took J & a friend to see "Disney's Chimpanzees" (see that's why it's called A Bike Ride & "Chimpanzees". LOL). What a wonderful movie. It's narrated by Tim Allen & is just so well done. The star, Oscar, is so stinkin' adorable I almost couldn't stand it. But it also shows the power and furociousness of these animals. A must see.

Can I get a WHOOT WHOOT!!!

Today is weigh in day and I lost another 2 lbs.  That puts me at 18 and leaves 4 to go.  I can't wait to go shopping.  LOL

Summer Camps

I have one word...UGHHHHH!!!  Why oh why do our kids have to get older and have actual opinions about what they want to do for the summer? =)  Being a working Mom, I HAVE to put my kids (well, now "kid" cause the older one doesn't have to go to camp) in summer camp.  It used to be easy.  I would sign them up for the local park and recs camp and be done with it.  Well, once her brother started complaining about it and decided it was BORING, J. decided the same and then my life became hell.  Finding camps that can encompass the entire summer is virtually impossible.  Fortunately, she is entering 6th grade this year and is now old enough to attend Loyola's summer school program.  UNfortunately, that only goes to July 20.  Now what?  There are still another 6 weeks to fill.  Luckily, we do have a vacation planned in August so that gets me down to 5 weeks but still 5 WEEKS is a long time to fill.  I do have my stand by Culver High baseball camp that she loves so that will cover 1 week and against her wishes I signed her up for a soccer camp that she has loved for 3 years but now decided she doesn't want to go to.  I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE.  I have scoured the internet looking for camps that go in to the month of August and they just don't.  I think a lot of people take their vacations in August so the enrollment in these camps is probably really low in August and they figured it wasn't worth it.  So baseball camp, soccer camp and I still have 3 weeks to fill.  I think she will probably end up at the parks & recs camp that is BORING.  She did go to this same camp for 1 week at spring break and said it was ok so hopefully I won't have to hear the complaints EVERY DAY.  I had my summers to myself.  I was so fortunate that my Mom didn't work so I just hung out.  Not sure if that was good or bad.  I loved it but probably would've also loved going to camp and playing with other kids.  Sometimes I feel like my kids just don't appreciate all that they have and get.  Ho-hum.....I will stop complaining now and continue to look for camps for my little diva.  =)

Special People

I had THEE best weekend.  Saturday my Mom, J & I went to see my cousin and her son and Mom.  We planned this get together over a month ago and I was so looking forward to it.  Sometimes life gets in the way and you let those special people slip away but you can't.  You just need to reconnect and catch up. And that's what we did. She is one of those people that no matter how long it's been since I've seen her we can just pick up where we left off.  They have a beautiful new home with an awesome pool so J. and my cousin's son played in the pool for like 3 hours.  We had lunch, shopped a bit and just had the best time.  I had missed her and now we vowed to keep in touch better even if it's just a quick email or text once a week. 

Then yesterday we had a landscape designer come out from Armstrong Garden Center to give us some ideas for our back and front yards.  After he left, D. & I went to Armstrong's just to see if we could find the things he suggested.  We didn't have a lot of luck but we didn't really want to pull an associate over since we aren't really ready to buy.  So we did what we should've done to begin with.  Just looked up the individual plants and flowers up on the internet.  In any case it was fun and exciting looking for stuff to make the outside look pretty.  =)

Sweet 16

Today is weigh in day & I lost another 2 lbs!! That brings me to 16 lbs total in 8 wks. Only 6 more to go to get to my goal of 22. And some SUPER cruel person brought in Krispy Kreme donuts today & brought one to me on a plate. It took everything in me but I took it to our kitchen & put a "Help yourself" note on it. GAWD!!! This is SO not easy but I guess no one ever said it would be. Anyway, I'm hoping that I will continue to lose 2 lbs. a wk and if I do I'll be to goal in 3 more wks. Stay tuned.

R.I.P. Dick Clark

Awwww, I was so sad to hear of the passing of Dick Clark. I guess it wasn't a surprise but when I read further I guess it was. Poor thing was having an out patient procedure and had a heart attack. The world's oldest teenager is now in that big "bandstand" in the sky. I remember following Saturday morning cartoons with American Bandstand and ringing in the New Year with Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. So rest in peace Mr. Clark. We will miss you.

The Voice

...or as I like to call it "the night I want to kill Christina Aguilara and perv over Adam Levine" =) Let me first give you a SPOILER ALERT!!! If you haven't watched your DVR yet then read no farther.

WTF, happened last night? My vote was for Jesse to go all the way. In fact I told D when Christina was doing her instant elimination "I think Jesse will go all the way so it won't be him". Then D jokingly said "Watch it be him." and then IT WAS!!! You could tell he was shocked off his ass and then my honey Adam had a look of disgust. And I kept yelling at the TV "Shut up and say the name. Just shut it and say it damn it. BITCH SHUT THE F UP AND SAY THE NAME ALREADY!!" I swear she talked FOR-EVA!!! I think Carson had to hurry everyone else along because she wouldn't shut her pie hole. And the way Blake blurted out Jordis' name was just bizarre. I wasn't even sure what he said.

I didn't get into this show last season so I decided to give it a try this season. I really liked the concept of the blind auditions and even liked the battle rounds but this is getting a bit boring now. I'm kinda glad they had that instant elimination (to move it along) but not so Christina could send home the guy that was supposed to win it!!!

WW is my new BFF

Well, I'm back on Weight Watchers. I've actually been back on it for 6 weeks and I've already lost 14 lbs (I'm shooting for 22 altogether). I got a bit out of control at the beginning of the year and gained 9 lbs. I actually never really got all the way down to the weight I wanted to get to the last time I was on WW so I'm doing it now. It's rough but I'm plugging along. I just keep thinking about the new clothes D said I could buy once I hit my goal and that's my incentive. =) So I will post my progress and hopefully in about 3 weeks I will have hit my goal. Wish me luck.

Addicted and Obsessing

WTH is with all these wacked out shows about being addicted to and obsessed over anything and everything ???!!! I say that but I of course can't stop watching these wierdos. LOL The two shows I am speaking of specifically are "My Strange Addiction" and "My Crazy Obsession". Not really sure what the dif' is other than the obsession one came on after the addiction one so they probably had to come up with a different name. These people have COMPLETELY lost their minds. They range from a guy in love with his car (he kisses it and everything.... so disgusting) to a woman who drinks her own urine....(yeah, I saw the ads for that one but couldn't bring myself to watch it.) I think it all started with a one time special for the addiction show and then all the wackos came out of the wood work and the producers must've figured they had enough to have a series. The original one showed a gentleman that had a life sized doll as his wife. Ok, this wacko belongs in the nut house. He talked to her, dressed her and did "other" things with her that, thankfully they didn't show. I COULD NOT stop watching. Intoxicating I tell you. Some of the people I think are just trying to get their 15 minutes of fame. I mean seriously, why would you want the whole country to know that you sniff baby powder, eat tape or compulsively dig in your ears. More craziness are the lady who eats dirt, the woman who eats cat treats and the girl who drinks nail polish. Oh and let's not forget the woman who is addicted to getting breast enhancements. She's not even 5 ft tall, maybe 100 lbs (20 of which are her boobs) and she has KKK breasts. And the kicker is that, against the doctor's advice, she wants to go for MMM. These poor people. Either they are acting OR there was something really traumatic that happened in their childhoods that caused this bizarre behavior. They all need therapy BADLY!!!!

Cake Pops, Turtle Pie & Chocolate Cake OH MY!!!

Today we are having a snack sale in support of two of our employees who are participating in two races to raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. I got ambitious and decided I was going to make some items to sell at the snack sale. As the title of this entry implies, I went a little "snack crazy". I made Red Velvet Cake Pops, Chocolate Turtle Pie AND a Chocolate Cake. Truth be told, the Chocolate Cake was supposed to be Chocolate Cake Pops but after rolling Red Velvet cake pops for an hour J. and I were done. So I just frosted it and will sell it by the slice.

P.S. As I said J. & I were really over the whole rolling the Red Velvet cake into pops thing so with a bit of mix left I let her make a giant pop (see my cutie and her giant cake pop below)

It's been a loooooooong time

Wow...I just looked at my last post and it was July 24, 2009. GEEZ LEWEEZ!!! WTH!!! HMMMM...well life just takes over but I will catch you up. Let's see...S is 15 1/2, a Sophmore in hs and jonesing to drive. He is such a good boy. Very diligent in his studies, responsible and ready. J just turned 11, is in 5th grade and still as sassy as ever. I swear that girl is going to rule the world some day. =) S is still playing soccer but has given up the baseball dream. J decided not to play post season AYSO soccer but says she misses it so hopefully she will kick butt come Fall. =) D & I are GREAT!!! We're coming up on 23 years together in May and 19 years married in September. We've pretty much been together 1/2 our lives. Time goes by way too fast. Work is good. I just had my 15 year anniversary here. So hard to believe. S was 4 months old when I started working here. So I guess that's it for the updates. See, that's why I don't post.... (yawn). Oh well, I will try to post once a week with witty little stories or just a "Hi there". I'm sure anyone that was following me (if there was anyone) has "unfollowed" me but if your still out there....I'M BAAAACK!!!! =)
